With today’s announcement of Star Trek: Picard formal, thought i’d get the thread going. Instead of something imaginative or different they have actually opted to call it Star Trek: Picard.

It remains in CBS Access but moves to Amazon Prime outside the US from Netflix. Filming has started and a couple of images are now on the web. Uniforms appear to be Countdown/Star Trek Online but we will see. Picard isn’t in Starfleet and we do not yet know what his involvement with them are.

Release is Fall 2019.

I love the creative title!

This might be the show to finally get me to subscribe to CBS All-Access. I can sort of justify it by watching Twilight Zone too. I'm still not sold though.

I don't remember how to post images on here, but there was a leaked set shot, the uniforms shown look like modified Voyager era uniforms, color across the shoulders and all black otherwise.

Leaked clip below - literally around 3 seconds.

Either way thats a full glance at a uniform. Do recall, this is about 20 years after Nemesis by the way. But very much an updated DS9/Voyager uniform.

Calling it now those are Cadet uniforms, not what full officers are wearing.

Hopefully, but it is the standard Ensign Pip from TNG onwards. Actually, not sure if they updated the cadet uniforms with the later era ones...

I too enjoy fine wine.

But for reals, despite the awful naming, I'm hopeful about this one. The current geopolitical climate is ripe for metaphorical representation and analysis in the Star Trek universe. Don't fuck this one up, CBS!

Couple of things I shared with Moses and Will:

1. If we consider All Good Things to be canon (which it is), present day Picard has "did have a small structural defect in his parietal lobe that could lead to a number of neurological disorders, including Irumodic Syndrome". So, I'm calling it that this is a guide/therapy/support animal, bc Grumpy old Picard wouldn't want some wetnurse following him all around.

2. Will said he bets the dogs name is Rene' after Picards nephew Rene' "Ashy" Picard. iconawe

John-Luck does NOT seem like an animal person to me. I don't even know what this show is trying to do. I guess I'm just very skeptical in my old age. I can't help feeling that the suits are laughing in their mansions, thinking "we'll get those suckers with nostalgia by slapping Picard in another edgy show on our crappy streaming network!" PROVE ME WRONG, CBS ALL-ACCESS! Make a show that doesn't suck.

I would say at least Patrick Stewart demanded some content before he signed on but then again I think it was his idea to write Picard as a action hero in the Films. Mind that was 30 years ago and he might have changed view point.

I paid for CBS All Access when Discovery seasons 1 and 2 came on, and tbh I probably will for Picard too. But we'll see...

Spoiler:
Good to see some of the cast returning, even though I suspect they aren't starring roles.

I see Patrick still wants to be an action hero. :P

Anyway, I'm not sure what to think. It looks like JJ Trek, and I'd rather see Picard as a thoughtful captain rather than an action hero. But we'll see I guess.
