So I've been elected as PRESIDENT (Captain) of my university's STAR TREK CLUB iconawe

As such, it's up to me to pick and choose episodes pertaining to various themes each week. I have been wracking my brainpan trying to come with ideas - but as I'm sure you've all experienced, the mind goes ka-put when the pressure is on. So I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me out...

Step 1: Pick a theme. I'd like to pick episodes that pertain directly to current events (perhaps some allusions to themes like terrorism, overreaching authority, racism/xenophobia), so picking a topic is important.

Step 2: Pick an episode! Self-explanatory. What episodes go well with certain themes?

I would appreciate and love any and all of your input! Thanks fam iconUFP

This is something that I think about quite often, the emotional range and various themes of Star Trek.

Unfortunately I only tend to organize them along themes that are more tragic/therapeutic: Loss, Grief, PTSD, you know those sorts of things, not sure if that is quite the pep and fun you are looking for with a casual fin Star Trek club or not. :D

I'd really like to pair episodes to a theme advocated by other clubs at my university, but I'm not entirely sure if it's appropriate for me to reach out to them. These are chapters of a professional organization, whereas this is just a po-dunk little Star Trek club....

Anyone have any experience being the little guy reaching out to a big formal machine? How do I approach the situation?

You can't go wrong with a little sincere-sounding flattery. Something like "we're a new club with a small membership, and I was hoping to share some of your club's themes as a way to increase participation and engagement".

Easy answer, join one of the other clubs! Success leaves clues my friend, and thievery is the best form of flattery.

Yeah this would be my approach really. Nothing asked, nothing gained as they say.
